The shift in responsibility away from the individual and onto the government removes much of the drive and human desire to excel. Inevitably this shift promotes a lesser quality and quantity of work by the people within the society. Even here in North America, our Canadian cousins who are supposed to be free feel the effect of socialistic ideas on their every day lives. The tax rate is glaringly high due to the support of their health care system, socialistic programs and unchecked immigration that do not put the responsibility on the individual to succeed. Freedom and free markets are the beginning of the equation that allows for success.

Organized religion is the foundation that helps guide a society into laws and cultures that promote fairness for all. The benefits of a society that is governed by laws that have the fairness and good treatment of their citizens first and foremost is obvious. People who live in an organized and well meaning democratic society are blessed to function without fear of tyranny or injustice. This religious base creates a culture that is structured on principles of equal treatment and allows commerce to function fairly. Again, one must only look in North America at our neighbor Mexico to see how a system devoid of ethical organization promotes an inappropriate and unjust system that does not promote commerce. Business practices in Mexico in many cases are lacking fairness and the capitalistic idea that the best company obtains the contract.

The organized religion portion of the equation for success is a dominant reason why we as Americans should never allow God to be removed from our courthouse steps or our classrooms. This religious foundation has been an integral part of our success as a nation and to forget this portion could only have negative effects on our society. Many societies in history have seen the beginning of the end once morality began to slip away from their systems. Morality in our courts and on our streets is a foundation for healthy lifestyles and commerce.

Capitalism is the next variable in the equation. The desire to make money fairly to support your family is one of the best things a person can do. People, who work, make goods and perform services for people who want them. The end user receives what they want while the worker receives the ability to give his or her family what they need to succeed. Capitalism and money in general has been looked upon by many as the root of all evil, but I disagree. People who desire to get money unfairly are evil, but is it the gun that kills people or the person that pulled the trigger? Money has done an infinitely larger amount of good in the word than it has perpetrated evil.
