I then felt the tremendous struggle that has been being waged in women's minds in our society over the last 30 years or so since abortion became legal. I could feel a more mature attitude that I likened to a young woman who might be in her late 20's. This is the period in my life where I started to really think and try to understand the world around me. I could feel this same desire to understand the whole picture and a much less selfish look at the world. It was clear that the consciences I felt had mixed feelings. I could feel the power that comes with the freedom to choose but guilt and sorrow around the choice itself. I felt a maturing process going on that was being hidden to America. Just as anyone who makes a mistake naturally tries to not broadcast their oversight to the world, I could sense a changing of opinion in the psyche of the women throughout the United States. Not that this opinion was ready to be made public, it was almost as if this movement was being kept secret by some unwritten code.

The last feminine mindset that came to me was a much more mature entity. I likened the feelings to an elderly woman whose body was failing but her mind was still sharp. She understood life was short. She knew how precious the gift that only a woman can give the world is to our society. Gone was the desire for power and the need to show that she was as strong as any man. With age comes wisdom and these women understood that in the end doing what is right is what counts. . I felt a clear and concise mind that effortlessly sliced through topics and got to the root cause of problems and overlooked all the politics that clutter up the periphery. I was jealous of the ability this group of women had to see only what mattered and forget their own desires for the betterment of their family and world.

This mature female voice understood that all life was too precious to simply destroy. I likened these women to the adolescent children of the 1960's. Those who were too young to participate in the peace marches of the day, but not too young to understand what was going on around them. These women would now be in their early 50's and it will be these women who begin to turn the tide in the abortion debate that has been discussed for decades. These women have seen abortion in its beginning and felt the draw the power to control their bodies gave them. Age has taught them that control and power is not what makes one happy in life. These are strong women who understand the importance of freedom of choice and political correctness but are not afraid to remove political correctness when life itself is the issue at hand. Many of these women have personal experience on abortion and are nearing the time in their lives when they will speak out with the wisdom of their life's lessons. This matriarchal group has a natural understanding of what is necessary to nurture harmony and balance in our society and should be listened to.
